The largest multi-purpose International Terminal on the Sea of Japan coast, located in Mariyama South Area
The closest port to the 2 major economic centers of Hanshin and Chukyo on the Sea of Japan coast!
Tsuruga Port is serving an important role as a freight transport complex by taking advantage of geographical characteristic as the nearest port on the Sea of Japan coast to the 2 major Economic Areas of Hanshin and Chukyo. Utilizing logistics of RORO shipping lanes in international trade and ferries, Tsuruga Port boasts number 2 position in transactions on the Sea of Japan coast.
In order to meet the needs of marine logistics and enhance the handling of cargo for the wider areas of Fukui Prefecture and its environs, the multi-purpose International Terminal has a deep water quay (14 m) where large 50,000 ton level cargo vessels can dock alongside the pier. The adjacent ground of approximately 25.4 ha (currently 17.6 ha) is the largest size on the Sea of Japan coast. There are convenient transportation links into the port, and it is accessible by the National Route 8 bypass and Hokuriku Expressway Tsuruga Interchange in 5 minutes.
The adjacent port grounds of 3.4 ha, are being widely promoted to attract businesses within the transportation and logistics industry and firms using the port. Further, there are plans in the future to link with the logistics base in Yonehara City, Shiga prefecture (SILC - Shiga Integrated Logistics Center) by rail; which is also in consideration for the environment. We expect that Tsuruga Port International Terminal will activate trading with various Asian countries through the Sea of Japan and that Tsuruga Port will grow further as an international logistics hub port.
